website of the Movement of New or Restored Democracies
www.icnd.org, run by the national Secretariat in Doha
under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
and the Movement's Advisory Board, announced that the UN
General Assembly adopted Resolution 62/7 dated 8/11/2007
by consensus of UN Member States, following a draft
resolution introduced by the State of Qatar on
5/11/2007, in its capacity as Chair of Movement of New
and Restored Democracies during the period from
2007-2009. More than 50 states joined Qatar in
presenting the draft resolution which was introduced
under Special Item and entitled:" The United Nations'
support to efforts exerted by Governments to consolidate
and promote New or Restored Democracies".
