It is our pleasure to introduce the ICNRD Newsletter “i” on Democracy.
The ICNRD Newsletter was borne of a decision by the First Advisory Board Meeting held in Doha, Qatar on 26 April 2007. The Newsletter is published biannually in English. It is distributed primarily to Member States of the ICNRD Movement, Parliamentarians and Civil Society Organizations as well as to organizations of the United Nations System, the Inter-Parliamentary Union and to the International Civil Society Forum for Democracy.  ...More

The International Advisory Board Members of ICNRD-6.
The Sixth International Conference of New or Restored Democracies was held in Doha, Qatar from 29 October to 1 November 2006. A major outcome of the Conference was the adoption of the Doha Declaration. This Declaration stressed the need for systematic implementation of ICNRD recommendations.
The Doha Declaration requested the Chair of ICNRD -6 make the necessary measures to guarantee appropriate implementation and follow-up Recommendations.  ...More
Parliaments and the ICNRD movement.
The IPU has, over the years, sought to help parliaments address these challenges effectively. It has sought to identify the values and objectives of democracy and the diversity of ways in which the key elements of a democratic parliament can be realized in practice. Examples of good practices in parliaments are found across the world, and many have been recorded in ''Parliament and democracy in the twenty-first century: A guide to good practice”. An exciting new initiative is the development of a toolkit to help parliaments and their members assess how their parliament performs in terms of criteria that are now widely accepted for a democratic parliament.  ...More
The 62 nd General Assembly ICNRD and the observance of an International Day of Democracy on 15 September of each year.
The topic, Support by the United Nations system of the efforts of Governments to promote and consolidated new or restored democracies, was considered under Agenda item 12 during the Sixty-Second session of the General Assembly on 5 November and 8 November 2007 respectively.
